Combining more than 30 years of experience litigating complex business disputes with over a decade of direct business experience as general counsel of an active family office, Claire has the litigation skills and practical business acumen to guide corporate clients and executives in their most significant cases and issues.
A firm believer that preparation is crucial to success, Claire has the patience and persistence to wade through complicated, interweaving statutes and key agreements to distill the salient issues and craft winning arguments. Claire pointedly advocates for her clients against even the most difficult and obstructionist adversaries. Recognizing that most disputes can be negotiated, Claire works hard to solve her clients’ issues without compromising their goals or needs, cutting through complexity with common sense solutions.
Claire has extensive expertise in many areas of litigation, including complex commercial litigation, officer and director breach of fiduciary duty, partnership disputes, real estate transactions, trade secrets, non-competes, employment discrimination, bankruptcy, and franchise law. She has represented private and public boards of directors and routinely advises companies and individuals regarding corporate governance, financing, valuation, investment vehicles, and lending relationships. She has assisted clients with sensitive and highly confidential personal matters and has provided advice and litigated Title VII actions, sexual harassment claims, reductions in force, executive compensation, and other employment matters. She is a trustee and has a working knowledge of trusts and estates.
Before joining the firm, Claire was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago.
