Steven C. Florsheim

A trial lawyer, counselor, and mediator with extensive experience helping clients navigate their most difficult problems and cases. Steve’s clients include private equity funds and their portfolio companies, public companies and their officers and directors, real estate, logistics, and technology companies, family offices and entrepreneurs.

Corporate directors, CEOs, and senior executives of public and private companies regularly seek Steve's unique perspective and nuanced understanding of business realities on complex commercial litigation matters and transactions. He represents them and their companies in wide-ranging disputes, including prickly M&A situations, fiduciary duty claims, accounting, professional liability and valuation contests, bankruptcy investigations and adversary proceedings, and significant disputes against banks, insurance companies, and once-trusted colleagues.  His clients’ success means everything to Steve, and his drive to find the winning line is furious.

Many of Steve’s most significant cases have involved valuations, accounting methodologies, and situations where numbers matter as much as words. Steve enjoys cases that require a deep dive into a client’s business and he has had great success distilling complex concepts into a form that can be understood and appreciated by a judge, arbitrator or jury. Often, Steve is hired when statutes and contracts offer no clear or easy answer and where creativity and thoughtful advice are most important.

Steve’s approach to litigation is guided by his experience as a business operator and principal, a public company director and officer, a chief investment officer, the chief operating officer of a Family Office, and as an advisor for entities managing billions of dollars in capital. Steve has assisted companies with capital raises, investments, exit transactions, and going public and private. He has acted as lead negotiator and helped structure complex deals in the real estate, hospitality, and technology industries.  He has represented individual business leaders when their judgments and reputations are being attacked.  As a lead trial lawyer, an advisor or a mediator, Steve is relentless in achieving positive outcomes with a creative and nuanced approach.
